First Meeting of the Muslim Dental Study Club - May 6, 2009

Muslim Dental Study Club

Introduction of Attendees
Present - 10

Purpose of this meeting is to determine whether there is sufficient interest to warrant formation of a study club
Consensus: YES

Discuss the format of the club

Do we want to have a small group or make it larger?
Consensus: Smaller for now

Do we want lecture-seminar, open group conversations, or hands-on?
Consensus: Open group for now

Where can we hold our future meetings?
Consensus: When it is groups larger than 15 IMA or Woodridge library

Who will present?
Consensus: All of us

What financial support do we need to operate?
Consensus: Incorporation fees, Food, Location, Lecturers (in future)

How often do we want to meet?
Consensus: Bimonthly, Wednesday Evenings 7PM

Internal Vision: "To teach our members the skills and knowledge on some of the latest advancements in dentistry so that they can perform and educate to the best of their ability"
Consensus: Preliminarily very nice, let's add on to it. Who are we? What do we do? For whom do we do it?

Advantages of keeping it a Muslim Dental Study Club:
- Adhere to religious priorities: Prayers, Fasting during Ramadan
- Reviewing aspects of practicing"Faithfully" (eg Are we collecting interest from late payments from patients? Staying away from fraud?)

Other issues:
- Writing up Constitution, By-Laws
- Voting on a Board
- Set up SubCommittees
